The official opening of the academic year for the second cohort of the Nuclear Technologies, Management, and Innovations Master's programme

On March 11, 2025, in hall 315 of the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the official opening of the academic year for the second graduation of the master's program took place. Nuclear Technologies, Management, and Innovations.

The program, jointly created by the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Physics, provides students with in-depth knowledge in the field of nuclear technologies and innovation management in the sector. This year's class includes 13 students who will have the opportunity to acquire expert competencies from leading lecturers and specialists in the nuclear industry.

Among the official guests of the event was Bogdan Dimitrov, Deputy Executive Director of Kozloduy NPP - New Capacity EAD, who emphasized the importance of the program for the future development of nuclear energy in Bulgaria. Our company continues to support initiatives aimed at training highly qualified personnel who will play a key role in the development of the sector.

The event was also attended by the rector of Sofia University, Prof. Georgi Valchev, the dean of the Faculty of Economics, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, the dean of the Faculty of Physics, Prof. Georgi Rainovski, the chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, Tsanko Bachiiski, Ivan Marinov, director at the Ministry of Energy, as well as Assoc. Prof. Plamen Petkov – co-director of the program from the Faculty of Physics.

Collaboration between academia and industry is essential for the sustainable development of nuclear technologies and the safety of energy systems. "Kozloduy NPP – New Build" EAD will continue to invest in young talents and in the development of nuclear energy in Bulgaria.

Change in the management of „Kozloduy NPP - New Capacities“ EAD

With a decision of 5 June 2026, the Board of Directors of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant EAD, in its capacity as the sole owner of the capital of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant – New Capacities EAD, adopted changes in the management of the project company. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Alex Nestor, the Executive Director, Mr. Petio Ivanov, as well as members Mr. Georgi [...] have been dismissed.
