In execution of the Decision of the National Assembly of 18.12.2023 (promulgated in State Gazette, issue 105/2023) to take action on the construction of the 7th and 8th units at site No. 2 of the Kozloduy NPP, on 19.01.2024, „Kozloduy NPP - New Power Plants“ EAD published an Announcement of Interest to participate in the procedure for determining a shortlist of potential construction companies for engineering, construction, supply, and commissioning of a nuclear power plant at the approved site in Kozloduy, with AP1000® technology, with a deadline of 02.02.2024.

Based on an Order from the Chief Executive Officer of „Kozloduy NPP - New Capacities“ EAD, a commission carried out the pre-qualification of the candidates who expressed interest within the procedure in the period 8-12 February 2024. The candidates for participation in the procedure for determining a shortlist of potential construction companies for the engineering, construction, delivery, and commissioning of a nuclear power plant on the approved site in Kozloduy, with AP1000® technology (hereinafter referred to as „the procedure“) are five, namely: Fluor B.V., Bechtel Nuclear Power Company Limited, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd., a consortium led by China National Nuclear Corporation Overseas Ltd. and partnered by China Energy Engineering Group Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., and China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited.

Following a check of each candidate for required engineering-technical and construction experience and expertise; economic and financial capacity and the presence of all required documents submitted, prepared and completed, in accordance with the requirements specified in the Expression of Interest Announcement, the commission proposed for the short list of potential construction companies (candidates) for the engineering, construction, delivery and commissioning of a nuclear power plant at the approved Kozloduy site, with AP1000® technology, compiled on a „pass/fail“ principle: Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.

By decision of the Board of Directors of „Kozloduy NPP - New Capacities“ EAD, under item I.1. of Minutes No. 4-2024 of 13.02.2024, the report of the commission was adopted and approved.
