Holtec International has made progress on its work on its SMR-160 small modular reactor through agreements with Energoatom and Exelon Generation, announced during the Holtec SMR-160 Advisory Board Winter Meeting held on February 8 in Jupiter, Florida.
Dutch NRG will conduct material testing, including graphite as a moderator, for key components of Terrestrial Energy's Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) under a contract announced on February 5. The IMSR is a Generation IV reactor being developed in Canada and the United States.
A meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espo Convention) was held from 5 to 7 February 2019. A representative of Kozloduy NPP EAD also participated in the meeting.
The employees and management of "Kozloduy NPP - New Build" EAD underwent a two-day training under the project "Centers for Increasing the Population's Readiness for Flood Response" of the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" at the Ministry of Interior and funded under the Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020".
On October 26, a conference "Cybersecurity in Electric Mobility and Digital Transformation in Energy Infrastructure" was held at the G. S. Rakovski Military Academy, part of the European Cybersecurity Month 2018. The event was held with the key participation of the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel.
New Powers participated as a mentor and supporter in the recently concluded first hackathon in Southeast Europe “Information Technologies in Nuclear Science and Engineering”. After an intensive day filled with lectures, conversations with people from science and business, brainstorming and programming, the five student teams presented the prototypes they developed within 12 hours to address problems and opportunities in nuclear science.
