„Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant – New Builds EAD presenting within the framework of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU

Kozloduy is one of the seven cities in Bulgaria where official events of the Bulgarian EU Presidency are taking place. On June 19, 2018, Kozloduy NPP hosted an external meeting of the Working Group* "Nuclear Issues" of the Council of Europe. Kozloduy NPP EAD, "Kozloduy NPP - New Build" EAD and the State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SE RAW) participated in it. On the day of the visit, the guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the only Nuclear Power Plant in Bulgaria, as well as with the achievements to date under the Project for the construction of a new nuclear capacity at the Kozloduy NPP site. The activities of SE RAW related to the safe decommissioning of units 1-4 of Kozloduy NPP were also presented.

For "Kozloduy NPP - New Build" EAD, Mr. Lyuben Marinov - Executive Director of the Company participated in the meeting, who presented to the group the advantages of the Project for New Capacity at the Kozloduy NPP site, summarized the results of the work of the project company and explained the specifics of the licensing and permitting regime for the construction of new nuclear power units in the country. Within the framework of the work program, the delegates visited a number of facilities at the Kozloduy NPP site, including a turbine hall and a control panel for the sixth power unit of the plant, the suspended units 1-4, a size reduction and decontamination workshop, the plasma incineration system for RAW, and the site of the National Radioactive Waste Repository (NRW) under construction.
