Programme for continuous environmental monitoring
In compliance with the conditions and measures of the EIA Decision, which approved the implementation of the project for the construction of a new nuclear power plant at the Kozloduy NPP site, and the instructions of the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, described in the Order for the approval of the preferred site for the location of the nuclear facility, activities have been launched to prepare a Program for permanent environmental monitoring. It is being developed jointly with the highly qualified experts from the Radioecological Monitoring Department of the Kozloduy NPP.
The goal of the Program is to provide a number of activities for continuous monitoring and periodic control of the parameters of processes and phenomena of natural and man-made origin, which will be resource-secured for the adequate creation of an up-to-date database.
Initial activities are related to clearing part of Site 2 in order to place monitoring posts, for subsequent installation of specialized devices for continuous environmental monitoring. As part of the preparatory activities, a team of the Company determined the location of the reference points and cleared the vegetation around the places where they will be located. GPS coordinates were taken and two ladders were installed to provide access to the reference posts.
