American delegation visits Kozloduy NPP„
Her Excellency Ambassador Hero Mustafa and her team visited the Kozloduy NPP in the context of the Memorandum of Understanding on Civil Nuclear Energy signed between the United States and Bulgaria on October 23. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the activities of the Kozloduy NPP and its project company, in order to explore the possibility of a partnership in developing a solution for Bulgaria’s future energy needs.
The Ambassador and the management of Kozloduy NPP discussed how Kozloduy NPP is taking advantage of the advantages in infrastructure and human capital that should make it the center of Bulgarian nuclear energy for future generations.
After presenting the status of the "Project for the construction of a new nuclear power plant at Kozloduy NPP", the two sides discussed the hybrid solution for the new power plant, which would make maximum use of the supplied equipment and a technological scheme supplemented by best-in-class technologies from Western partners. Such a project would be financially sustainable compared to other options and would take advantage of the already existing large technical, environmental and natural advantages of Kozloduy, highly qualified personnel, a training center, safety and security measures and electricity transmission infrastructure. A successful hybrid project in Kozloduy would guarantee a large volume of safe, reliable, low-carbon energy for Bulgarian citizens, while strengthening Bulgaria's energy independence and security.
