Bogdan Dimitrov, Deputy CEO of Kozloduy NPP-New Build, took part in the Ninth Summer School on Energy Management„

The project for the construction of Units 7 and 8 at the Kozloduy site is not merely a technological investment, but the most powerful driver of macroeconomic growth, competitiveness and human capital development in Bulgaria. This key thesis united the participants during the Ninth Summer School „Management in Energy“, in which „Kozloduy NPP-New Builds“ took an active part.

During the event, the company's Deputy Executive Director, Bogdan Dimitrov, discussed with the audience the role of nuclear energy in the context of European targets for achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

Participants in the forum discussed the requirements of the green transition and the critical need for reliable 24/7 baseload power to guarantee the stability of the power system. Against the backdrop of the large-scale integration of renewable energy sources and storage systems, the grid requires high flexibility, which modern nuclear reactors can provide. Achieving this synergy between renewables and nuclear energy is not merely optimal, but a mandatory condition for the sector.

Special emphasis was placed in the presentation on the unprecedented multiplier effect of the project on the Bulgarian economy. Data shows that every €1 of directly generated added value from the construction of the new capacities will bring a total of €2.7 of added value to Bulgaria. The scale and strategic importance of the investment have not gone unnoticed on a global level. „Major financial institutions have expressed their interest in the project, which will ensure secure, safe and affordable energy,“ noted Bogdan Dimitrov, underlining the high level of international confidence in the project.

„Kozloduy NPP - New Builds would like to thank the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and Utilities magazine for the excellent organisation and the exceptionally interesting, in-depth discussions held over the two days of the summer school. Meetings with such motivated and established experts are proof that the future of the Bulgarian energy sector is in safe hands.
