„Kozloduy NPP - New Builds is expanding its cooperation with the Polish nuclear industry

The opportunities for deepening industrial cooperation between Bulgaria and Poland in the nuclear energy sector were the focus of a working meeting between the management of Kozloduy NPP – New Builds and representatives of leading Polish companies, organised by the Bulgarian Nuclear Industry Association.

Polish companies, some of which are already certified and approved as suppliers for global nuclear projects by technology leaders such as Westinghouse and Bechtel, presented their experience, manufacturing capabilities and expertise in the development and supply of high-tech equipment for the nuclear industry.

Of particular importance to the meeting is the fact that Westinghouse is the supplier of the AP1000 reactor technology for the future Units 7 and 8 of the Kozloduy NPP, as well as for the three new reactors planned in Poland, which creates a natural basis for deepening the partnership relations between Bulgarian and Polish companies.

During the talks, key priorities were outlined that will form the basis of future joint actions.

A key focus during the meeting was placed on the exchange of experience between the Bulgarian and Polish nuclear industries. Representatives of Polish companies and the management of Kozloduy NPP-New Builds agreed to establish a direct and effective communication channel to support the continuous exchange of expert experience, technical knowledge and good practices.

The two sides also emphasised their shared commitment to ensuring that large-scale new nuclear capacity construction projects in Bulgaria and Poland are implemented to the highest standards of nuclear safety and security.

Special attention was paid to the need for a higher degree of localisation and the active participation of national industries in the implementation of the projects. The participants shared the understanding that the inclusion of local companies and the building of sustainable industrial capacity are of key importance for the successful execution of the new nuclear capacities and for the long-term economic benefits for both countries.

During the talks, a joint readiness was also expressed to attract a broader range of European companies to nuclear projects. Such an approach would contribute to the building of a sustainable, competitive and independent European supply chain that unites the expertise, manufacturing capacity and technological potential of companies from various countries and creates real added value for the development of the nuclear industry in Europe.

The meeting reaffirms the company's commitment to building strong international partnerships that guarantee the successful, transparent and cost-effective implementation of Bulgaria's nuclear programme.
